The Bible

Christadelphians believe ...

Jesus overcame all temptation and died to save his followers from sin and death

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Hebrews 2:14

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Romans 8:3

In the garden of Gethsemane Jesus suffered perhaps the greatest temptation of all. He had at his disposal a huge number of angels who could have overcome all the Jewish authorities and the resident Roman force but he subjected himself to God’s will and allowed the authorities to cause him to suffer a most cruel death.

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

Matthew 26:53

A little earlier Jesus prayed three times in the Garden of Gethsemane:

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Matthew 26:42
